Wasn't just me, that's for damned sure. Those individuals who did the real work, they know who they are ;)

We just got it up and running, configured and tested with my SFC3 install and a couple others with the dir. servers fix implemented.

This was very much a SFC3 community effort, and I'd like to give them a "well done!"

Well Done!

Looks like a 534D patch might be needed, to include the server patch.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

Actually, there's a client side beta patch already being distributed.

it's down and dirty, just a quick job to get everyone up and running.

Hello,
If you need some help, I can make an installer which automatically directs to MetaAssets\Clientsettings.  :)

This propably will not help, but just in case check sfc.ini, and make sure BehindNAT value has not changed to zero. Sometime ago in my sfc.ini it was zero, program did change it to zero propably for some reason.

You cant give me any advice at all it seems.

SFC3 is truely dead for the best and most loyal player on SFC3. :'(

Not sure what your problem is as i just logged on to D3 without any wait, all i used was the quick patch provided by D.Net.

p.s without knowing any details about how you connect and so on nobody can help you.

Your sfc.ini file is in the Activision/Sfc3 directory on whichever disk/partition you installed the game. I don't know exactly what's causing your problem, but I made a post awhile back http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,163362630.0.html that may help you. I use the BehindNAT=1 as well as the other info from my post with no problem. I played last night.

If you still have problems after reading that, try starting SFC3 and connecting to multiplayer mode. Then Alt-Tab back to your desktop to see if you have a security/firewall popup waiting for permission to continue.

Good luck.

Hi,
Day 4 now still no luck.

My router is an Inventel.

I have experience the count down when my firewalls are learning the router configuration, for example

'Internal IP not recognised now attempting external IP.
Closing directplay test host.
Starting directplay test host etc'

Usually after about 3 runs the firewall and router have learned the configuration.

But this time it does not complete the 1st run even, stops every time at 30 seconds in directplay test countdown.

I've turned all firewalls off and even gone and set up my router into DMZ.

Reloaded the game, etc

Still no joy.  :'(

HELLLLPPPP, pretty please.  :-[

Try running the game without the router and with the firewall off.
If your on dsl the modem it self is like a router and has its own firewall built in,i have sprint DSL now know as Embarq and the way i first got  it to work is i had to run my modem in bridge mode which basically opens all the ports and then i ran my fiirewall and allowed the game to access the internet problem solved, eventually i figured out that the dsl modem has many options to open ports and now i do it that way.

Hi,
Thanks for that, I have done exactely the same.

I have just reconfigured my router to the sfc3 port forwarding,

For reference the full port forwarding to play and host  are:-

Ports which should be forwarded are:

47624 to 47624 TCP
2300 to 2400 Both
6667 to 6667 TCP
3782 to 3783 Both
27900 to 27900 UDP
28900 to 28900 None
29900 to 29901 None
6500 to 6515 Both
6073 to 6073 UDP
13139 to 13139 UDP

Triggering ports:

47624-47624
2300-2400
6500-6500

Anyway I joined the SCF3 game on 464 that i played before the new access server admin, loaded the  Dynaverse.net access server as directed into the original directory  for the 464 server and it loads great.

But when i create a new directory for SFC3, eg renamed 'Shadow wars' and try to join multiplayer to test a new server the direct play stops every time at 30 seconds.

The server kit starts fine.

I also removed all the MODS, but the same result.

Frey, Bonk could you please advise?

Im sure it is not my settings as it loads fine until i create a new directory.

Hi,

Ok an update, sorry.  ::)

I just made a copy of the server that logs ok, before the new admin dynaverse.net  directory hosting and after.

The server kit runs fine.

Loaded the Dynaverse.net directory server as instructed.

Re-started all my firewalls, and re-configured my router to the SFC3 host and directplay ports.

Renamed the server sfc3e and loaded up all my mods.

It hooks up with no count down.

Thats great, but i am building a server for 534b and i cant copy one.

I found an easy way around, but not the right way.

Hope this update help the admin find a resolve or give me a 534b server that i can copy, not, hehe.

Sorry but im getting more sure it is a bug in the SFC3 access server hosting. :-[

Ya cant  install a new 464 SFC3 game using a new directory, eg Shadow War or install a 534b server from new.

Again sorry to be a pain  :-[
