Vista and Gamespy Arcade
« on: April 21, 2008, 06:42:12 pm »

Running under Vista, people may have had a problem using Gamespy Arcade.

However, with Vista Service Pack 1 and the new Gamespy Arcade installer.. Gamespy Arcade should work fine with little to no modifications.

To install properly, you need to have UAC enabled in Vista.

Second, you must have Service Pack 1 and all additional updates installed.

Third, you must get the latest Gamespy Arcade installer.

When getting the installer for Gamespy Arcade, do not open from location.. save the installer to your drive.. then find the file, right click and Run as Administrator and then allow the installer to install completely..

After install is done, close out everything and see if Windows Defender or UAC will prompt you to reinstall using correct settings, if it does, allow reinstall.

Finally, all you need to do is right click on the desktop shortcut and click on Properties, click on compatibility tab, and put check mark into Run as Administrator.

This will allow Gamespy Arcade to save your log in information as well as save the game room mapping on your system and give best integration for your games..

You can now configure Gamespy Arcade any way that you like and even disable UAC if you do not like it's security.

If you are still having problems with Gamespy Arcade, then check for Windows updates and check your version of Gamespy Arcade, if still having errors, check your video card drivers and make sure that they are Vista compliant and WHQL certified. Also make sure that you have the post Vista service pack 1 hotfixes for your video card if necessary.

GSA should be Vista compliant now.
