Intrepid style impulse engines

That's too advanced for a ship like this. my best guesses would be either 1 above the shuttlebay structure and/or two on the saucer on each side of the pod strut.

Interesting, im gonna go with the saucer idea as pointed out by adonis, purely to keep this in line with the theme of the timescale but it also leaves rear torp options open.

thanks guys  Wink

Added impulse engines to the saucer and secondaries to the necelle struts and also rear torps above the shuttle bay.

Well, given the fact that the struts seem to be half a deck thick (which isn't much), you don't have the space for impulse engines there no matter how you put it.

Well, given the fact that the struts seem to be half a deck thick (which isn't much), you don't have the space for impulse engines there no matter how you put it.

If the pylon is half a deck thick.... How are people supposed to reach the nacelle control rooms....You know to monitor plasma flow and if needed manual venting? I would say that the pylons would have to be a deck at least, and because of their length should be able to hold a fair few micro reactors... Think about it... if a shuttles or runabout's impulse engines are about the size of a person. And since space has no force to cause friction a person in a thruster suit could push a ship.. all be it not very fast, but it it could be done. Therefore if this ship has a cluster of shuttle/runabout sized reactors spread out in each pylon.. the combined power would be more than enough to use those engines at almost anytime, and if any of the reactors are damaged.... and theres clusters of them.. the force while been smaller would be more than enough to get a ship this size moving up to at least 1/4 impulse even with serious damage to the saucer and pylon reactors.... Not to mention thrusters can also be added into maths to add those handful of kph

Think the impulse engines on the saucer are perfectly placed.  Smiley

But just a personal opinion, I don't think you'd need the secondaries unless you're going for a MVAM style ship.

Thanks guys, i agree with the secondary impulse engines and they have already been removed, the mesh is now 100%, spent the last few days, finishing it off, smoohings groups etc, modified certain areas, such as the front tubes, enlarging the deflector, adding the bridge and making the pylons thicker, i will map her out over the next few days.

I have one small, easily fixable nitpick left for this thing.

Do a connecting structure between the nacelles and their struts, only TOS ships didn't have those.

What's the size of the texture map for the saucer?

texture maps are 2048 x 2048 for now, until im done sfcIII version will have 1024 x 1024 saucer textures, bumps reduced, (thanks for the tip) registry reduced for cannon reasons.  Wink and hue of textures changed.

big images so you can see everything and pick up what needs to be fixed.

thanks  Wink
