Warm day on the east coast. (eh)
« on: June 09, 2008, 11:49:10 am »

Braxton was asking about the weather here last night, and oddly enough we got a rather warm day today:
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ns-19_metric_e.html
Currently 26 °C with a high of the day of 29 °C, thats pretty warm for early june, but as you can see on the forecast the evening lows are still nice and cool. Being on the coast moderates our temperatures thankfully.
As I mentioned, it's a little cooler in Cape Breton:
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/ns-31_metric_e.html

The humidity and heat where I used to live in Ottawa is awful in the summer:
http://www.weatheroffice.gc.ca/city/pages/on-118_metric_e.html

As Stan Rogers sang:
Quote
Down on the farm, back among the family, away from Ontario
Hear the ladies singing to the men, dancing it heel and toe
And watching the apples grow.

Ontario, y'know I've seen a place I'd rather be
Your scummy lakes and the City of Toronto don't do a damn thing for me
I'd rather live by the sea.

Yes, it was about the same here in New Brunswick.  Great day to be out.. except someone apparently fed the blackflies steroids!

Its 97°F here in North Carolina at the moment. Heat index is probably around 105°F. Pretty humid. Just got back in from mowing grass and had to change because the clothes I was wearing were soaked through with sweat after only half an hour. I use a tractor with a bushhog to mow.

I got it from Microshaft Works Wordprocessing program. If you have it, click on "Insert" and choose a symbol.

Good sleeping weather here, 46F at 4:30 AM and looking at 57F for the high. Who needs air conditioning?  Tongue

I'm in Dallas for some training.  92 degrees with a humidity of about 30%.  A cold front came through late in the evening and the temp dropped 18 degrees in an hour.

If you installed it with windows, the character map will tell you... (start...all programs...accessories...system tools...character map):

and it tells me that the degree symbol is: ALT+0176 ... like so: °
I used to know a lot of them by heart, I'll never forget mu: ALT+0181 ... µ
etc... The common symbols are all in the standard fonts using the same keystrokes for the most part.

That's always the way I do it, no superscript needed.
More "ALT" symbols: © ª ® ± ¢ £ ½ etc...

We got a nice cool day here today,  high of 12°C cloudy and rainy. That's my kind of weather - maritime.  Smiley

OMG! Thanks Bonk! I had seen those characters in the fonts, but never knew how to access them.

Posted from Firefox on LinuxMint 4.0.  I just use the forum software to insert the superscript by clicking on the appropriate button.  The image of the appropriate button is below.
