always liked Mystery Men, and rush hour. Not familiar with Disturbia. Isn't Bicentennial man the one with Robin Williams? I seem to remember I liked that one.

Yes, Bicentenial Man is the one with Robin Williams. Disturbia is a Rear Windowesque thriller staring Shia LaBeouf. Here's the trailer.

Don't know if these have shown up on the list(if they have, I'll second their nominations):

-The Manchurian Candidate(Frank Sinatra's best role)

-Dr. Strangelove(this movie is hillarious on so many scales that if you've never seen it, get it. Immediately)

-Seven Days In May(this one is a barely concealed Hollyweird fantasy of the fireworks between Truman and MacArthur, but it's still a good movie)

Leaving the 50s and the Cold War...

-The Princess Bride(very cute, and very, very funny)

-Excalibur(it tears the legend of King Arthur to shreds, but then so did Monty Python

)

-Pale Rider(tomorrow night on AMC; it's a recreation of Clint's old "dead man gunslinging" from a few 60s movies, but the showdown is a classic and it kind of got lost between all the Dirty Harry movies)

-Battleground(Band of Brothers did it in the last few years, but this old flick came out within the first few years after the Battle of the Bulge. As an old infantryman, they played out the combat perfectly for the conditions, and it was a very, very good movie. Obviously, it's about the 101 and Bastogne, and look for a few familiar faces who were unknown back when they made it).

Seen all of them but Battleground, at least that one idoes not ring any bells right off.

Yeah Rambo IV was a good one, like how it came full circle.

Battleground is still shown on TMC on one of their military weekends like Memorial Day. It's also available on DVD. Prior to Band of Brothers, it was the best account of the siege of Bastogne, and it's still a very good movie.

If you like documentaries, the BBC "Walking With" series is a good watch with a lot of re-watchability. Unfortunately, only the British version is available on DVD. I personally prefer the American version. Despite being slightly censored, I feel that Avery Brooks is a better narrator than Kenneth Branough, and I like how in the American version, they stop on occasion to have paleontologists explain why they think the animals, looked, behaved, or met their ends in certain ways.

Repo: A Genetic Opera

ok as many of you have known through the years, I am a huge Sarah Brightman fan, her voice with Opera has been a constant companion with me for over 20 years now. So when I saw she was in this movie, I scratched my head, and rented it anyways.

My friends ignore the bad reviews, this one is great. A mix of Blade Runner (in background) , Old style Rock opera's, and one hell of a story line.

In the Future, Genco creates Organs for quick replacements. However, don't miss a payment, or they will send the Repoman after you. While this alone would be a great story, they add in other storylines.

Between the Repoman , how he became such, and Rotti, the corporate bad guy with Genco, and how he is dying, enters the daughter, Shilo.

Shilo is held by her father, protected from the cruel outside world, only to be discovered by Ritto. Her father had a choice to make when she was born, save her, or let her and the mother both die. This guilt lead her father down a dark path in his life.

Grave robbing has become the new way to get the popular Street drug, and one Grave robber always winds up helping Shilo, as she quests for her past.

Blind Mag (Sarah) knew shilo's mother, and was to be her God mother, Ritto outfitted her with a new set of eyes (Great Special effects tie into this), but she wants to leave Genco now.

This and much more explodes towards the end, as Ritto, his three evil kids, Shilo, Mag and of course the Repoman battle one last time at the Genetic Opera in front of a live audience.

Not for kids due to themes here (repoing human body parts might make the young ones a bit ill, but the gore is really low key.)

Music features, Jazz, rock, Classical Opera, Soul, funk. something for everyone.

I've never been into rock operas, so I don't watch 'Rocky Horror'. Of course, I've never been into opera in the first place because they don't speak English. Tomorrow night, I might attend a ballet, as long as they speak American(or at least Canadian).

Now, moving back to forgotten or underrated movies:

'The Patriot'. Like 'Passion of the Christ', it's one of Mel Gibsons' forgotten or overlooked movies of the '90s that was panned by critics but blew the doors off the box office. It also included an unintentional reitiration of the Battle of Cowpens.

'The Stand'. Yeah, it's a miniseries, but it's the best adaptation yet of a Stephen King novel. Of course, it helps that it's King's best novel.

'The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly'. The penultimate Clint spaghetti Western.

'The Amateur'. John Savage plays a CIA anylist who's fiance is murdered by a East German terrorist, and he goes looking for revenge.

I didn't care for Rocky Horror either for that matter, but there where a few that where ok, Styx's Killroy was here, The Wall, etc. where pretty good stage shows (even if short lived).

I own all of those except for the amateur, will have to check that one out.

There was an unwritten rule at my frat house that every semester, on the last day of finals, we would get absolutely blitzed, then watch 'The Wall'. On Beta! I usually managed to miss this because I was out drinking and whoring.

BTW: The History Channel is coming out with a new Battle 360 on Friday night. It stars Gen. George S. Patton. I can't wait!

I'd definitely recommend Dark City if you haven't seen it. One of my all time favorites.

Have to agree with this one. A excellent series.

Just finished Night/Day Watch myself (not too bad, actually) - been feeding the wife movies from this list every once in a while to get away from those "girlie" flicks that normally come throuh the mail

The HBO series Six Feet Under and Oz might catch your interest if you have not yet seen those.

I've also found The Office (american version) to be rather hilarious, and the first 4 seasons are available as "watch it now" on netflix - if you're into that, that is. And yes, some of the office pranks they pull are doable.

Addendum:

On Wonder woman, Funny as all get out, with nice plot twists etc.

Two scenes for example. AF Pilot Steve Rogers has crashed on the Amazon island, and is being questioned by the queen.

queen: "what else are you thinking" as she tightens the lasso

Steve: looking at Princess Diana "Your daughter has a nice rack"

While walking around Central Park, they come across some boys playing pirates. Diana notices a girl crying.

WW: "what's the matter little one?"
Girl: "they won't let me play Pirate , cause I'm a girl and need to be rescued."
WW: "they are not even sword fighting right, They are using a slash attack instead of a thrust in close combat. here let me show you how."

She then picks up a stick and instructs the little 8-10 yo how to handle the make believe weapon.

WW: " there you go child, now go unleash Hell"
Steve: " How sweet, you taught the little girl how to disembowel her friends.

For a cartoon it was not bad.

Actually, it wouldn't have been so surprising if I'd noticed Paul Dini's (or was it Bruce Timm's....?) name on the package.
