Ok, I haven't been able to come up with anything that I want to model for a while now. I started a couple of things, but lost interest. (TOS CVA and FCF)

I thought that maybe you guys could give me some inspiration. I'm still running on my old PC, which I think is my problem. I just can't get too excited about doing anything on it. I have to use older versions of my software with it and it's bumming me out, I guess.

Anyhow, any suggestions? Any era, any race is fine. I'm open about it. Pics would be good so I can see what you want.

Asking for the sky here... How about a high poly FASA Klingon D-10? A Klingon Academy SuvwI' Qeh? Heck ANYTHING non-Federation...

Walk away for a week or so - thats usually my solution. But if you really want to hammer through instead of around, I agree with KF: go with something non-federation. I'm tempted to suggest something none-trek, too.

I have no desire to make a high poly model. I want to make something for SFC.

I've taken a lot more than a week off. LOL

I think KF might have meant a HighER poly D10 - the D10 that is out there is quite low - something like 1k triangles.

Well, the D10 is really fugly. Unless there's a rendition I haven't seen. I doubt that I'd improve on WZ's SuvwI' Qeh. Thanks for the suggestions though.

Did you ever finish that remodel of the SFB FCX? I know you decided that the first one was too high poly for SFC.

It's sitting on my other computer, which is down ATM. It's nearly done. There's also an TMP FNCA (Atolm Design) and a Tholian fleet. I've really got to get that PC back up. ::)

I'd say, try something different.  Cargo ship, space station, Worker Bee, space monster.  Those are good places to go when you're tired of doing the standard.

Personally, I was going back through some of my unrelesed stuff last week and found a ship I was playing with, an old kitbash of Mackie's using p81's textures.. I was modifying it previously ala the Mirror Universe version of the Okinawa I did, and had called it the ISS George W. Bush.  >:)

It was a few years back, and I thought that it wouldn't have been a good time to release it then.. but one of the things I'd built into the Okinawa that I'd added to the Bush was a decompression room that opened onto space, with a force field keeping the atmosphere in.  This being a larger Mirror Universe ship, figured that it'd be good to put in a mass execution room for the Terran Empire's political prisoners that'd outlived their usefulness.  In the Okinawa, I just had a small room big enough for one person that I'd put a small image of a mime into.  My thought at the time was "A terrible Mime is a good thing to waste."  ;)

Just play around like that, see what you come up with... doing Mirror Universe ships give you a bit of freedom as well to do things that you'd not normally do on a Feddie ship..

Well there is a dire lack of Romulan, Lyran, Hydran and Gorn freighters, auxilarys, support vessels, commercial vessels and the like in SFC.

The Federation, Klingons and Kzinti seem to be well covered here by all the modellers out there.

There is a lot of infrastructure that could do to be modelled for use in scenarios.

One point to raise is has anybody bothered to model an alternative to the stock Taldren Space Mine used in all versions of the game??

Well if you want to try to restart your creative side I was going to use a variation of this for Lyrans. You could probably get Atlom to work out any details for you

Okay. One more plug for a new D-10.

IMHO its not a supership. It is very well suited for multi-role functions (CV/Troop Ship/battlecruiser) given what the Klingons have in their overall TMP era inventory. I have been giving this ship some thought and I'm considering making this my stock KCV. I have never been a fan of the D-10 as a Four Years War era ship as the D-6s and D-7s were already the Klingon response to the Constitution Class... I prefer to view the D-10 as the Klingon answer to the Excelsior class (or The Excelsior as the Federation response to the D-10). Again, that's my corner of the Trek multiverse...

All I'm saying is that the level of detail for a Klingon ship hasn't been done in a long time.

or take kthyla's romulan design principles and create new versions of exsisting classes in that style. I don't think I've ever seen you attempt cardassian, and there's plenty of armada 2 ship classes that, even if only 1000 poly, would probably look great.

Maybe some Romulans.   :)  or maybe the Reman Warbird/Reman Dreadnought  that Azel/Atolm designed some time ago.

My creative block at the moment is playing X-Box 360 most of my spare moments in the evenings, mainly IL-2 Stormovik - Birds Of Prey. I'm currently ranked as the number 5 ace in the world on arcade team battle with 149 victories, mainly on clueless rookies and those whose egos exceed their dogfighting skills, just like the real WW1 and WW2 aces.

Interestingly enough the baling out system was devised by Microsoft. In a situation where one's aircraft is on fire / missing a wing / tailess / spiinning out of control through damage, can anybody see the point of a delay in a real time bailout situation to ask, "ARE YOU SURE YOU WANT TO BALE OUT??".

The system is refered to by players as the "Microsoft Ejector Seat".

At least the bomb release system is normal.

Rod, I'm voting for the USS Ingram. Been wanting it forever as a heavy carrier cruiser or SCS. Models Please took a good shot at it, but I'm hoping for someone to try a more evolved version. Most people think it's an ugly ship, but for some wierd reason it is my favorite non-cannon design. Call me crazy.

What do I do when I have creative block?

Why I teach myself PHP/MySQL so I can build a website that will let me and my friends keep track of game pieces during a long-running SFB-esque campaign.



That's a shot of a page that displays all the components that exist in the database (right now, its just the Heavy Photon). Right now I'm working on a page that will allow a person to add a new component to the database - ugh.
