two good stories today. first off is the story of nasa exploring the possibility of using railgun technology (you know, that tech that doesn't exist according to the military;) )they want to launch a vehicle horizontally at speeds of up to mach 10 and then have it land traditionally. more here: http://www.networkworld.com/community/node/66243

second is a great story from the UK, they are using massive super computers to simulate how galaxies are born. with 800 cores to work with, i would love to have that for my computer ;)
