Operating Systems?
« on: December 25, 2015, 05:49:38 pm »
I have an old Dell D800 1.6 Pentium M, 1.25 GB RAM that currently has Windows XP on it that I use for light surfing mainly when I travel. Any suggestions for alternative OS's for it?

Don't, I suggested it as  joke.  Its the official state OS of North Korea, with all that it implies.

On a more serious note, I'd recommend keeping an eye on ReactOS.  Its an open source windows clone that's been in development.  Its starting to look more like a usable OS.

I did some checking and thought it might be a joke. React looks promising.

I've been using Netrunner Linux for sometime, now on three machines.  Like many forms of Linux you can run it straight from a DVD or install to a thumbdrive for testing purposes without having to install on the machine itself in case it does not meet your needs.
