thanks... increasing ram did the trick :)  basically what this community needs is someone to modify current plugin or create a new set .mod importer and exporter that runs on 3DS MAX 10 and up?

Hi fellas, it is possible to get 3ds Max 5 running on Windows 7, 8.1 or 10 without the need for any VM's. See attached.

I recently wanted to accomplish this as now my boy is a little older I can squeeze in a few hours now and again to start modelling again.

It needs a little fiddle, and a modified Licence file, but it works 100% and is great. Don't think I can explain the process here or share any files (is it legal??)

Either way, if you want to know the process I am happy to share.  ;)

There is the windows 10 after the update.

Hi Miles, nice to see you still around, yeah I have no issues sharing the method via PM for anyone interested.  ;)

Aside from the basic lack of time, the lack of a .mod plugin for Max after version 5 has been a big contributor to my modding inertia.  I have Max 2014, but it barely gets looked at, I still have Max 5 somewhere - if I could get to it install on my Windows 10 machines I'd be happier.  A plug-in for the newer versions of Max would definitely be greatly appreciated though.
