556 timer circuit for nav and strobe lights

Attaching a picture of my nav/strobe circuit on breadboard. I use an1N4148 signal diode at the very top left, above the resistors, in parallel with R2, the top of the 2 resistors to get the strobe flash.

My brother and I laugh at the strobe on television.  Strobes are for targets.
