Do any women play this game? Please don't tell me.
« on: January 24, 2003, 01:19:40 am »
this is a dude ranch! I remember Jackel's girlfriend used to play but that's about the only female I think I have ever heard of even attempting this game. Please prove me wrong.....

Also, this was inspired by the Victoria's Secret thread...I have this image of a bunch of white, hairy guys with SFC2 baseball caps strolling around Victoria's Secret, looking for a nice teddy.

Not sure if you're talking about SFC3 only or not, but in EAW there is KRolling (Hooch's personal nurse? I think. Or something) and Tracey G the Fed uppity muck SFCnet  admiral . Then there's Ferret something or other (IX? IXUUIU?) from Hawaii.

Don't hit me Tracey, I meant uppity-muck in a nice way of course....

Actually I think there are at least a couple of pairs of people who have met their wives/husbands through SFC, besides the one listed above.  Amazing huh?  Maybe some people should rethink the way they act on servers and in the forums.  They might stand a chance at meeting someone special, lol.  Although the unruly ones always claim to be in a very steadyrelationship with a few on the side.

Hehe, and they are usually the ones who don't have anybody...

I have heard of stranger things, my dad met his girlfriend on the MSN Zone playing Backgammon...

My wife of 8½ years and I played SFC(1) together, and then when SFC3 came out we jumped on in for a month and a half.  Unfortunately, we both started to lose our SFC3 buzz about the same time and went back to playing SFC again.  I played on the first Assimilation! as SixPointOhTwo and she was emc2.

There was a good number back during the time of SFC1. However, the community acted a different way during that time. Don't get me wrong. There were still assholes. However, with mplayer and voice chatting, it was easy to boot out the unwanted buttheads. From my recollections, the women that I remember that had the best voices were two sisters: Heavenly and Dream were their handles. They were from Australia. Some former members who used to play SFC1 on mplayer understand who I am talking about. I guess because I was always a sucker for accents.

As for now, Gamespy is not comfortable. Everytime I am in there. Things just feel too forced. Some people will know what I am talking about. On mplayer, it was just more comfortable. So, my guess is that they are out there, but keep things on the quiet side, or in their own areas so to speak. Who could blame them? Things are different now.

Yeah, Heav and Dream were great to hang out with. I could
spend all day in room just listening to them talk. If I'm not
mistaken, Dream married a guy from a Gorn fleet (can't
remember his callsign) and the last I heard they had moved
back to Australia.

I miss the old SFC1/MPIG days. Man, it was a blast back then.
Did you ever run into that lady who would make a room in
the SFC1 lobby and all she would do is read from a book?
People would spend hours in her room just listening to her
read.

More than listened to "A Flock Of Seagulls".

Duran Duran weren't that bad, that song "Ordinary World" was pretty cool and they did the theme for "View To A Kill", any band that does a Bond theme is OK by me.

Oh CRAP, I have to rethink that now, Madonna did the latest theme. Ahh, she still sucks more than hard vacuum but the rest of the Bond Themers are cool.

There always has been chicks playing SFC..  :-)

HoV-Victoria ( SFC 1 )
KWP-Victoria ( SFC 2 )
just plain old Victoria... ( SFC 3 )

And let us not forget :
Jeaih
Mercury431
Stormy
Jubilee

Although I doubt any of these people play anymore, these were just the 4 people I played with or ' hung out with ' on a regular basis. There are at least 10 others that I knew or heard of from SL or Mplayer. I read a post a ways back in this thread about how there probably are women playing, just staying quiet due to the lack of warmth on Gamespy. I would agree with that totally. Speaking for myself and the couple of women I know who still play SFC on Gamespy anyway. The other part of it is that the community has disbanded. One of the best things about the SFC games was the hundreds upon hundreds of cool people who made the leauge a fun place to play, and if you weren't into leauges, they made Mplayer a fun place to be for some fun games. I mean come on... Remember how when the M-quakes would start, people would be popping in and out of the lobby, all mad and shouting bad things about Mplayer ? And of course there were the comedians, who would be popping in and out saying how Mpig must be falling into the Pacific Ocean. ( Because everybody knew that Mplayer was in California and.. ya know, the earthquake thing ) I used to laugh my butt off there everynight, and I met great people, and had fun playing SFC in the leauge, with the people who made it what it was. Now there is almost never more than 75 people playing on any given night. I think Gamespy has much to do with that. The more people are following a game, the easier it is for it to attract new prospects. Of course the more people you have, the more likely there will be women. The population of this game will only go down from here I fear.    Mplayer had the perfect atmosphere for this game, and it was easy to make friends, and have fun with the game. It's not as comfortable now, and that's probably why people ( men and women ) don't speak up as much, and use unisex names and such.

I wish everybody would come back though. I don't mind playing on Gamespy, but everybody has moved on.

So What's everybody playing these days anyway ??

Exactly Toasty0. I couldnt list all the great ones. There was just too many of them.

I mentioned Krumb, aka Scott Bruno.

I had ALOT of names on MPlayer. Not only SpectreOfDoom and 15th_Spectre. I also used "fun" names like Fleet_Enema and Pres. Jeff Davis! My cousin took over one of my callsigns and still uses it. I told him about Taldren's new boards and he's starting to post again.

At one point I had about 40 different callsigns. I never thought I would say this, but I really do miss MPlayer.

Well now my young friend you ought not to start ugle rumors about SSCF fleet members, we are not FJ's but we tend to not forget those who attack us, either in  game or out.

For the record SSCF KRolling is not my nurse, I am TraceyG's pet lackie and boot kisser on the other hand. I have sent your name to our "fixer" known as SSCF Aussie, he would like to meet you soon D2 or D3 it matters very little.

Chutt-Ritt and most all of the Kats and Koth are female Kats (pussy kats)...well they fight that way most of time.

Rumor has that nearly all the Klingons, (including Dogmatix), SPQR, and the Bruces are all girls too.

If memory serves we had three women at once in GE (get your minds out of the gutter you dirty dogs).  Heavenly, Dreamy, and Nitengale7.  I know Nite was a personal friend of mine who moved on soon after sfc2 (remember early on it wasn't much fun to be a gorn) was released.

I sure do miss them all as well as SSazzix, The Witmaster (the original moofighters), Daozb, etc...

Pardon me while I go sob myself to sleep?

KRolling,

I was once part of a RPG where two women absolutely hated each other.  Now that was a flame war.  The only problem was that it never ended, even after months and months of it, cuz they never could let it go.  So, each of the women started manipulating the men, especially tne single/divorced,  players to line up on their side.  You know the deal. Bat the eyes, flash the sigfiles et al.  So, the RPG became the Woman A side vs. the Woman B side.  I once made the mistake of flaming both of them cuz I wanted my "independence".  Well, that's how I learned my flame war skills, hehe.  If you can beat a scorned woman in a flame war you can do anything in a forum.

Anyway, the RPG eventually petered out due to lack of player interest...and you wonder why, LOL.
It's also why I hate flame wars now. Don't ever want to go back to that miserable experience.

I have to agree with you. Women have the hardest  time getting along with other women.  I am sorry about your experience with women in your fleet.  That should have been taken care of immediately.

I am so glad that, so far, I have not ran into any problems. I get along with the other ladies in my fleet and have nothing but respect for TraceyG.  I cannot see myself ever getting into a flame war with another woman or man, for that matter.  I try to always think about what I am doing and saying.

As for being manipulative? That is definately not me.  I made a vow to be true to myself, the most high, and my husband.  I will not use sex, or any other tool, to manipulate members of my fleet or anyone else.  I could not live with myself if I did.

It is a pity that some may think that they have nothing more to offer then that.  That they are not good enough being who they are. I like the way I am, and do not appoligize for it.

But, don't get me wrong.  I like to have fun.  Good, clean fun.  And that, my dear, is the way I see it.

I have been very fortunate to have been treated with respect, from my fleetmates, from the players, and even from those who like to post those certain pics that really floored me (LOL!!).  I thank you all for that.  You have all made my experience here a wonderful and memorable one.

Now, let's have some more fun!!!

Sincerely,

SSCF Flt Capt K Rolling

Also, this was inspired by the Victoria's Secret thread...I have this image of a bunch of white, hairy guys with SFC2 baseball caps strolling around Victoria's Secret, looking for a nice teddy.

Not sure if you're talking about SFC3 only or not, but in EAW there is KRolling (Hooch's personal nurse? I think. Or something) and Tracey G the Fed uppity muck SFCnet  admiral . Then there's Ferret something or other (IX? IXUUIU?) from Hawaii.

People would spend hours in her room just listening to her
read.

I remember playing the SFC1 demo before the full version was ever released. Just Feds and Kinks. My very first match I used three frigates to attack a Klingon heavy cruiser. That was UGLY! BOOM BOOM BOOM. Stop laughing! At least I managed to score some internals. Geez I hated the demofest.

I did meet some great people on MPlague. The ones I remember best were the ones that were in the fleet I was in.

Jellico
Seki
Joe Lewis
Kirk_jr
Just to name a few.

Then there was Krumb. I wonder what happened to that guy??? LOL

Voice chat was great. BS'ing with all the guys/gals. I miss that alot.

Ok, Thats enough.

To qualify for a Personal Nurse, you need to be old, decrepit,  oh and try to fly for the Federation :P

Victoria, you mentioned a name I haven't seen for a very long time - Jubilee. I was a fleetmate of hers back in SFC1 days.

True i was in RAGE back in the old m-player days (or m-pig) we had a girl called beachbum (last i heard she was studying and was,nt on much) don,t think theres many old rage guys about now though but i do miss m-player (never really liked gamespy) though as for women playing this im sure there a few out there but i would,nt even ask my wife (as she is 30 and im 25) as she kinda thinks its immature (i won,t argue that with her) ..

I'd say the majority of them has vacated or don't bother much with the community.  These days there aren't really any more pleasant chats on the D2/D3 boards.  What was supposed to be a place to share stories of our experiences has turned into nothing more than a place to cry foul and present overanalysis of game data.

Ohio huh?

Well now my young friend you ought not to start ugle rumors about SSCF fleet members, we are not FJ's but we tend to not forget those who attack us, either in  game or out.

For the record SSCF KRolling is not my nurse, I am TraceyG's pet lackie and boot kisser on the other hand. I have sent your name to our "fixer" known as SSCF Aussie, he would like to meet you soon D2 or D3 it matters very little.

Captain Rolling please remind me of this next time you see mister Coles name on a server list, if he is allied there is always planet ramming. Please keep me posted.

Chutt-Ritt and most all of the Kats and Koth are female Kats (pussy kats)...well they fight that way most of time.

Rumor has that nearly all the Klingons, (including Dogmatix), SPQR, and the Bruces are all girls too.

Or so I hear...
