Yet Another Crazy Model Request
« on: April 22, 2003, 10:02:48 pm »
Yet another request or more like a twisted idea: Why not convert some modern jet models to SFC and use them instead of the stock shuttles and fighters?

Would any of you like to take part in this lunatic vision?

Thanks in advance!

Been wanting to do the A-10 for a while now...as a former Light Infantryman, I have a soft spot in my heart for those ugly, ass kicking beasts.lol Close air support, bombs falling, enemy screaming in pain and fear...makes an infantryman fired up and ready to go. FLY WARTHOG, FLY!!

good work btw on those Macross ones Manitoba...

say, Sandman, how slow can those Warthogs fly (while strafing, etc)? Don't they hold a record or something? I kinda like the way they look, too. They look like half plane, half-tank...

That beautiful bird is my fave too...she can fly under 400 knots and trade shots with the dreaded 37mm guns that make f16 and f15e pilots have nightmares...the warthog takes 37mm fire nad just shrugs..trust me, I saw a10's in gulf war 1 and gulf war 2 take hits that would have made anyother plane fall to pieces..

Usually,  the mere sound of the jet is sometimes enough to cause an opponent to think twice and give up...keeps the bad guys honest.

Here is a USAF fact sheet about the ugliest plane that has ever been called beautiful by the grunts on the ground!

hey anthony actually the warthogs r second to only 1 other aircraft as the ugliest we have or had in the airwings. maybe 3rd after a-1 corsair but the ugliest has to be the flying brick .     the F-4 PHANTOMS    now that was an UGLY bird.
and if ur curious i was a squid airman.  jet mech at that. my birds i worked on were the E-2C+ hawkeyes..       i was in from 92-96 myself  and twice to the gulf.  and i actually thought the warthog could fly at 175 mph  was the slowest it could go.   and ur right about F-15's shudder at those calibers is because they r so thin compared to naval aircraft   lol   lool
