Most useless...

WHat the most usless Star Trek Race and character?

Character-Diana Troi
The only thing she really gave the show was some eye candy.

Race-Betazoid
Come on. An intergolactic shrink? The only purpose they've got is for someone to talk to and any good bartender can fill in for that.

That wasn't angry.  We were just playing.  They survived didn't they?

Ferengi.  Who really needs Mr. Haney in space?

Though very nice eye candy: Yeoman Janice Rand.

Guinan.  Similar reasoning to Deanna Troi; why would you need a shaman in space?... though she does tend bar...

Most useless race?  I'd say the unisex one in TNG; it's one of the most contrived devices they've had.

You know that a Russian crew member was inserted after the Soviets acted hurt and made cutting remarks that in that "international" crew, there were no Russians, seeing as how THEY were the first ones in space.

But they couldn't foresee what Kirk and Spock and universe already knew from their record-tapes, that the Berlin Wall and the USSR itself would both fall thirty years or so later!   ;D

Guinan was not only the bartender but she also made a better psichiatrist than Troi. She had more insight. I wouldn't consider her usless. Also remember the Nexus from Generations. Picard would have never stopped Soron if she hadn't spoken to him. He would have stayed in that dram forever.

I'd agree troi was pretty useless.  She wasn't very good eye candy either.  Sure she had a very pretty face, but any of you ever get a gander at that big flabby butt of hers?  ew.

*kinda liked her big butt*
I was really more partial to Natasha Yar. She looked like the kind that would put up a fight. ;)

Ok, the most useless characters in Trek, by series:

TOS: Uhura- They put her there for women's lib and equality and integration's sakes- and more than a little for eye-candy's sake, and then don't get her to do a striptease till she's in her 50's! ;) WORTHLESS! All she did was repeat what (insert male character here) told her to say over the radio. TASHA YAR got more character development for crying out loud, and she was only there for one season!

TNG: The Un-Named Boy- Yes, that son of Crusher's that we all hate. He was just there to be the director's deus ex machina when they ran out of creative ways to get the Big E out of trouble. THe only good part he ever had was in the episode where he was done to death by a bayonet, and then they saved the SOB!

DS9: EVERYBODY ;D ( I REALLY hated DS9), but if I had to pick, it would be Keko O'Brian.

Voyager: Kes... I don't need a reason here, it's painfully obvious.

The advantages of living in the Heart of Dixie- low cost of living, peace and quiet and a conservative majority. For some reason I think that the first two items have a lot to do with the presence of the last one.

TOS:  None of them, actually.  I agree that Uhura often seemed useless, but I'm giving Nichols credit for at least wanting her to do something.  She also left the series because she never got to do anything but open channels.

Least she got some screen time in the third season.

TNG:  I have to say Troi, though I liked her.  I feel as if her potential was somewhat wasted.  I can't hate on Wesley Crusher as I associate him with seeing Ashley Judd in one of those tight uniforms. ;D

Voyager:  Kes.  Useless, didn't like her much.  Could probably list the whole line-up if I wanted.

DS9:  None of them.

Enterprise:  Poor Mayweather.  It's not his fault they never give him lines.
