Something W'ked this way comes...
« on: February 05, 2006, 03:16:48 am »
A new version of an old model:

The Bird of Prey has been a long-standing symbol of the Klingon Empire's reach across the galaxy. Since before the days of the Federation, birds of prey have been enforcing the Empire's will, defending it's borders and bringing new worlds under the heal of the Imperial boots. With the dawn of the 25th century on the horizon, the Klingon Defense Force sought a new and improved Bird-of-Prey to usher in the new postwar era.

With the extensive knowledge gained during the conflict with the Cardassians and the Dominion, Imperial engineers began development of the W'ked class Bird-of-Prey. Named in honor of the long standing and noble House of W'ked, and partially funded by it's members, this new starship incorporates the latest in technology and design. Key weaknesses in the aging B'rel workhorses were addressed: notably hull strength, weapons compliment, shields and propulsion, as well as enhancements to the cloaking device and emission dampening.

The W'ked is typically equipped with a standard forward mounted torpedo launcher, a pair of wingtip mounted heavy dual-disruptors, and two pairs of medium disruptors fore and aft. In addition, ablative armor plating and enhanced shields along with multiply redundant backup systems ensure that the W'ked can take considerable punishment and still continue operations. Matched only by the Federation's own Defiant and Cobra class destroyers, the W'ked class Bird of Prey has proven itself to be a formidable and worthy successor to the Bird of Prey family and stands to continue the legacy on into the 25th century.

Never mind the fact that I like it...

... if WZ made it,
and DD likes it,
and it works in OP,
it must be A1!

As I said over in WZ's forums some time ago, she's like a Katana; beautiful, yet deadly.  I think that's an accurate description of the W'ked, and is one of WZ's finer models ever made in current times.

Awsome m8. Love the textures, the sleekness, it's difference of the BOP yet it's clearly an heir.
Snickers@DND: If there is one straight answer in that bent little head of yours, you'd better start spillin' it pretty damn quick, or I'm gonna take a large, blunt object, roughly the size of Kallae AND his hat and shove it lengthwise up a crevice of your being so seldomly cleaned that even the denizens of the nine hells would not touch it with a 10-feet rusty pole

Classic recognisable profile. Elongated to give a more futuristic impression. Certainly a pleasing design, and a high detail set of textures. Gets a big 10/10 from me for sure.

Agreed, the impression of the heavy armour is magnificent. It looks like it's  gonna lay a hurting on ya just standing still. Finally the Klingons have a ship that'll give the Defiant a good spanking.  :D.

Semper Fi, Carry On

It's fine by me.

LOL this is just awsome even though ive said it before :P, last night i decided to power up the weapon ports. just to make her even more pretty, heres the PIc if WZ is ok with it i would like to put a limited release of her (say to anyone who is intrested) will duplicate this thread over at your forums aswell incase you miss it here :D

Go ahead. The only reason I didn't make them illuminated was you don't really see that on-screen, except right when the weapons are being fired.
