well eaw have no X-phaser, A-phaser, B-phaser or Heavy torpedo, only op have them,

well still you can make it a great model in eaw and op ;D

There are, more or less, accepted standards for what weapon points look like. The Ent-A was a first generation X-ship. I was suggesting that he model his Defiant's weapons after the Ent-A with phaser balls and photona.

I have an idea, one that really makes a lot of sence I think...

Anyway, here goes: Since we have a TOS Constitution class USS Defiant, and since I really think that Starfleet, or anyone for that matter (like the Klingon TOS D-7 that ends it's lineage with the K'T'Inga, Excelsior which ends it's lineage with the Lakota, etc.), we should find another name for this ship.


Yeah, Im not fussy about the name or the registry.. keep throwing ur ideas in and we can bash out the best one, not sure about the registry number in relation to the linage of the ship and stuff, i know allot about trek, im just not that way inclined  ;)

Came it at just over 4k polys after refining, im now gonna try and work out the conversion thingy, and see how i go  :)

Thanks guys, your comments are greatly appreciated, and if it wasnt for everyones input and comments along the way, then i might not have finished it. Im currently converting it to sfcIII as that is the only reference material I have found so far, should have it uploaded some time today  :)

Ok, si i have converted it to a mod, made a break mod, got is hardpointed so the weapons are firing from the correct places, got it scaled correctly, made the ti,vl and BS images, got the .GF working, added in the dummy objects for the progressive damages, and made damage maps that include illums. Added in the glows using the modelling tools attribute editior thing.  But when i export the model, it works fine but why is it smoothing my model.. i dont want it to, and when it asks if i want it to on the export i say no, but in game it smooths it all and it looks wrong when ur up close.

any ideas  :huh:

Now, in Max, do the following:

Go to poly selection, and select polies by smoothing (in the section where you assign smoothing groups) and then detach each group to an element. SFCs *.mod format resembles the good'ol *.3ds format that we all hate the guts of in this matter. That'll fix the issue.

Thanks to Adonis it now looks much better ingame, it still seems to smooth areas that i dont want it too.. only ingame though, in the mod viewer and in max it appears exectly as it should, but it looks ok ingame.

I will provide a download link as soon as battleclinic letes me upload, both it and this thread arnt letting me upload, probably my crappy internet conexion  >:(

Gives me time to release the bashable version though, should have it ready in 30 mins or so  :)

I'll bet you it's the "dynamic LOD thingy"  ::) that SFC3 uses. Especially if it looks good in the mod viewer.

Ive managed to get the retexturable version up as its only 500k.. comes with uvw jpegs, .mod and .3ds model fully mapped for you to draw away  ;)

Geks, I think I know what's causing the smoothing jibberish on the nacelles, you need to retriangulate the polies.
