Dark Empire Mod Releases here -- Romulans them Damn Romulans 2/17/08

In the next few weeks i am going to release our unfinished Dark Empire Mod ships here.

Our mod consisted of about 350 ships most not modeled at the time for sfc but the lack of texture skills the mod was dropped.

:: note the ships textures lack detail and are unfinished, there also may be some mapping issues ::
Your welcome to finish the textures and release the ships but please add your name in the readmes/what you did and keep them with the ships. It would be nice to see them posted here for release but thats up to you just keep the credits where due.

For some reason I really don't like the odd squared lines all over the frederickstan hull. The other two I like alot though. :D Good work! Keep it up man!

There are some great ships here!

It's nice to see someone adding to the lesser races like the Lyrans & Hydrans - they often get overlooked.

Thank you for your feedbacks, but I do have a request.  If whomever wishes to re-texture my models, please make versions for all the Starfleet Command Versions. Don't forget to give credit  were credit is due...... and if all goes well more ships will be coming this way.

Sure go ahead but its not my concept though most of these feds and klinks are fasa or similar variants. There should be a 2d pic of the original ship i tryed to make with each ship. If not i need to get them pics in there so texture pros know what to texture.

Unknown warriors Lyran and Pirates are scaled to and use the stock ship hardpoints for those classes. We never did get the time to accurately place the hardpoints to the weapon spots, but I'm sure someone has the time for that if the ships are wanted that badly.
As for My stuff posted so far i don't remember what has been scaled and hardpointed .
  Any future ship by Unknown warrior will be sfcop ready - possable mesh errors or textures unfinished. as for my unfinished textured ships if i can get the time ill make them good.  Ill make sure that my "finished ships" are atleast points added and scaled.
I wish i had the time and texture skill to finish them all :-[ it would have been a good mod.

I like the Menahga/Mitannic. One of my favorite designs from Ships of the Star Fleet. I don't know if I've ever seen them modelled before, glad to see someone's tackled 'em. ;)

Nope that fleet was going to be our Korgoth slot.  The drell was i guess early Tmp? not sure on era

Right now new ships coming out are some of the few things that keep this series of games alive. If the modellers left the game would die, even now the community is still producing ships other games wish they had

Yea way to much work for 3 poeple to do thats for sure. The textures are what killed us, way too many ships to texture up an Alternate universe look.
Here is the point i got sick of makeing meshes that we coulndt finish the texture work, i started to kitbash stock taldrens for some of the pirate slots.
Here is one of my favorite kitbashes Rage really did a good job on the textures i think  :thumbsup:

LOL it kinda felt like it. Most of the models Unknown Warrior and I created back in 2004 the year of Hell .  I don't know about him but i was on a 2 hr sleep 22 hr make them damn models drive  :D

Not true Rhaz if we did the models would be finished and look kewl :laugh: But thanks anyway  :thumbsup:

Rod we didn't hold out we try ed to get texture help here but i don't blame them for not helping the numbers we wanted to do overwhelm most any one. We didn't want to release the mod unfinished  :-[ but with my home life and my PC about to die i figured release the ships while i still have them .

Thanks all I'm glad someone will maybe put them to some use somewhere.
Heres what i have left to upload. The rest of my Federation ships , Unknown Warriors Gorn, Romulans and Remans if found, Ive got a few Hydran  :laugh: and the Isc fleet.   Gorn and Isc still need to get mapped with textures which i may not have time for.  :'(

Same here for your ships!  They're great variational designs that fill out the fleets of a couple of races.  I truly wish they were around a few years back; back then I had all three and a half SFCs running and needed ships for them all!

Love all these! Those Rom, Hydran, Lyran and Pirate fleets are awesome! I really like the SparrowHawk model and itr may even replace the stock SFC model as my "official" STU design.

I think the gorn will be finished dont quote me on that , Unknown Warrior made those but as for any more ships by me I dont think i will bother releasing any more since they suck by this communitys standards and the several hundered we just released havent had many downloads i feel it is a waist of time and effort to get them ported over for any future releases. It sucks that we cant texture good to make quality game models but thats life i guess when its all free.

Are you kidding me? Even as they are I think most of these totally rock!

Textures can always be changed and Polygons later refined. The point is you took your ideas and made them visual in a form that others can manipulate. You and the others should feel proud of that. It most certainly wasn't a waste of time. Even if the only thing to come from it is inspiring others...

Now bring on those Gorn...  :angel:

Hey, I've said it a lot in the past as well.  I agree, it's the *idea* that needs to come out first.. the mesh can be refined later, the textures can also be refined.

I'm personally a better texturer than a mesher, but even though my meshing skills are lacking, I release anyway.  I expect people to either play with them, or get ideas based off them.  It's the idea that's important, and we'd all be releasing nothing at all.

A good example of my stuff is the Gorn battle destroyer that I did. It sat there on Battle Clinic for months with very little interest. I really liked the model and was disappointed that, apparently, nobody else did. After a while though, and with the release of more of Atolms and my Gorns, people started using them all. So, it might take a while for people to start using them.

Wow that's a great job on your Gorn Rod. I had missed it before. The mesh is well defined and the texturing crisp! (Not my era or type of design though, but that is besides the point). You should go back and do all the other Gorn for TOS as teh blurry scale and simple wedge protrusions really do them a unjustice aside from the explination (it's alien).

Personally my favorite is Thu11's Gorn update (I wish he'd make more in that style). [Shameless plug for Thu11s]  :angel:
