I think you have been manipulated by someone, or at the very least, grossly misled.

There is no money in this. Certainly not enough to pay for lawyers. My advice is to not fall for this "legal" extortion scheme, whatever it is, you have already lost more than you can gain. SFC models cannot be sold. Period. If they are, then only the original licensors are entitled to any remuneration. If someone is selling your models, you are not entitled to any money, but they are obliged to pay Paramount, ADB and Quicksilver the appropriate fees, which I can guarantee will cost more than they have made.

Dynaverse.net is not involved. Let's make that clear at least.

My Lawyer and Boss asked me to state a few facts on the case.
"Dynaverse has no responsibity or has anything to due with this issue". Sorry Bonk I should have made that clear first.
I always had a made for SFC pledge and for the last 3 years legal contract that states {I can not sell any game models I create}. When all done I can explain more.

looks good just wondering how you are mapping it.
Long continous texture sheet that can support multiple different doors etc
or lots of repeated areas on a sheet(s) that makes it have to keep a generic look?

The model looks good how you mapped it will make or break the ship. With good mapping even textures drawn with a crayon will look good, which by a coincidence pretty much how my first try with textures looked like.  :)

I love the carrier! Especially how the shuttlebays are angle backwards a bit.

as far as the legal situation, i'm glad it got resolved, but I'm curious how they got your hands on your work - was it through here, are other people's work here at risk?

How about you exchange PMs instead of talking openly to avoid any more trouble. Glad it worked out.

Maping the only way i know how through Gmax basic plainer then uvw edit to fit. I have figurued out the basics to it but i agree some areas are hard to do correct to get good results.
I was wanting the doors to be simmler and the landing pads to have the numbers top and bottom for more realism. So far i have 512x top and botom maps 1  2ndary map 512x and 2 512x 256 hull and parts map and the bay doors map at 256x128.  My goal is to have everything on 1 map for multi game conversion use but maping all that gets crappy results with Gmax.

Thanks Chrystoff but no congrats. I didnt do anything for it. I would have called it as a"stupid kid move" but lawyers were who saw the issue first i cant stop the legal in motion.

FoaS_XC   They are not sure if the models were taken from my site or battleclinic as the files are the same only the download zips were changed . But any one who releases online is at risk for theivery. No file can be secure unless the zips are password protected.
I see the design as a drop and get out ship let the cruisers be fire support for the fighters . The carrier should also have a cloak so it can return and be a useable craft in a real fire fight decloak when needed ect . JJ universe anyway as tos and tmp feds baned useing cloak.

Thanks FPF-Tobin Dax , Yes pm me for info about the legal issue if that matters to anyone.

I generally don't make that judgment untill I have seen the textures. Good textures have saved many a bad model and from what I see these don't look that bad ;)

OH you got the wrong guy on that issue.  :'( I have Never been good with texture art as i call it. I can pass off Tos Trek ok as its white with windows and boxes but most others there is no good thing i have been able to create from scratch thats worth a view let alone a download.

Man, you're too hard on yourself.  I've seen some of your textures, and you're not as hopeless as you make yourself out to be.  I can honestly say, since I've started here, I've seen worse than yours.  I just think that you need to work more from the perspective of "I'm not Da Vinci, but I'm also not fingerpainting".  I  feel that the biggest issue with your textures is simply that you tell yourself that you suck at it, so you're limiting what you do with it.  That, and we need to look at your toolset.

PM me man, I think we need to get your plate a bit more in order before you knock yourself completely out of the game simply through telling yourself that you blow chunks when you texture.  You really don't.  But I do think that you might be trying to paint with a trowel when you simply need better tools to do what you do.  Going to try and hook you up with some and will try to keep with you until you find something that works for you.  (And no, am not planning on dumping you right into PhotoShop, so relax).

I am slaming my head agianst a ,as my 4 year old son would say it inbisaballwall Desiging texures from scrach or basic ideas is  :'(
I can seem to make what i see ER SOMEWHAT from my experiance working up the Rodger young design from starship troopers its not typical trek its grey and boxy
but any other scratch work . Between Unknown Warrior , Rage and I we have a full replacement fleet for sfc OP that needs textures that i can not design them up or they would be done already.  Most model designs  are now already out there by other authors in more glory but is a shame that hard work ends life in a hole . Hell Unknown warrior has atleast 25 BSG model designs to his credit but I can not get them all out in their proper glory. :-[  When God says to me i was to hard on my self i may start to learn then i guess.

Modelling skills are actually top notch, you have no worries there
Textures you already make them, and as Atheor pointed out the rest is learning the tools you have

Mapping is the key here!
a well mapped model with just basic textures works every time, and you can then just control the detailling you want on it.
a badly mapped ship will cause you to have to cover the area with tricks on the textures, which is very difficult to do.

A history lesson is due here.  I can remember when a huge chunk of Fleetdock 13 models still had their original MSPaint bitmap textures.. and hand lettered registries.  They looked decent ingame.. and represented fleets unavailable with stock models.  Those simple tools and models are what led us to this.. and in reality, those early, crude ships contributed far more to the overall game than some of the fantastic "Art" pieces we have today.

Kree..it is not art.  Not by a long shot.  It is crafting an attractive, usable tool.    The tool can have elements of art.. but at the end of the day it is nothing more than an object used to play a game.

You are far too tough on yourself.

THANK YOU... people do tend to forget about the early days.  And agreed, he is too tough on himself.  People would've killed for his meshes in game back then, and it's only the fact that  we've gained free access now to tools that would've been pricey commercial products back then (thinking Paint.Net and gmax here among others) that have caused the textures to get closer and closer to movie quality or better.

You can give a cow lipstick, mascara and a boob job to try and make it prettier.. but it's still a cow.  Without the base mesh being decent (or decent enough) you're left with a cow and some serious mental issues.  ;)  It's only the base mesh that makes it into a Grand Lady.  :D

One says good in ones eyes is not master of all. I make that to be master the fun in it then you may have some peace in it all. Peace in it all is the final glory.
My finaly glory with my work, one day i may have a 3d printer to render up my own work to feal in my own hand.  A Total reverse from how i started here.
