I wonder how long it will take for there to be a game model.

Didn't someone mention in an earlier thread that this model was in development? And I hope this model becomes reality sooner rather than later.

I was working on a low poly version. She's at around 7K polies and I thought it was a bit high and needed to be refined. I was working off of an earlier untextured version of the model. That's why my textures don't match Gabe's. Looks like he might have changed a couple things on the mesh, as well. The bridge, for one thing (Which I really spent a lot of time on, unfortunately :'().
Anyway, here's the version that I was working on. I haven't done anything on it for a few months now.
I'm gonna do a total remake. I think that I can shave quite a lot of polies off for the latter design. I'm not going to throw this mesh away though. If there's a desire for 2 versions I can do as you suggest.
I would like to attempt an accurate low poly version of the final design, though. Just for my own personal satisfaction. Game res accurate, at least. 8)

That is F***ing gorgeous! Don't get me wrong, TOS is great and the design of 1701 is a classic, but if they were to redo the series with this in it, then if for no other reason it would get my vote lol.
I have a new mesh that I'm texturing ATM. I'm gonna try real hard for Christmas release, if I can get permission from GK.

Perhaps a New Year's release? :P

He never said what year andthings take as long as they take
Has this design actually been declared the "next" Enterprise? I know it's been rumored to be, but I didn't know it was confirmed. If so, I'll have to do alternate regs. as well.
It's supposed to be a pre-TOS design, isn't it? The timeline for the movie is before TOS, anyway.
I'm going to slot it in as the FBB, in my game. Judging from the size of the windows on the saucer this ship is larger than the original NCC-1701 by a fairly good amount. There's also the rear firing torps. I just thought she fit as a FBB in game. I could do 2 different HPs, if people want more options though.
Thanks for the encouragement, all. :)
lol... I like her too, but she wouldn't be a FCX.. this ship is for the new Star Trek XI movie coming out in 2008 that shows a new Kirk.. the ship is actuall the NCC-1701Are they really going to adopt this for the movie?
Now , if there was ever a model that made me wanna kitbash something, this is it.
Truth be told, I also started this mesh several weeks ago, but was dissatisfied with my end result ... and I wanted to do Saladin and Federation Class ships based on this design. (I may yet do that ... unless someone else likes that idea and steps to the plate ... because speaking of plates, mine's full ... lol)
But ... this ... this is way better. Can't wait to make her my fcx!
JM.

The full TOS line remade in this style is way too good to hope for. It'd probably cause the universe to implode. :o
YES!!! A CONSISTANT FLEET!!!
Guaranteed Download Here!!!!
See, this is why I love the TOS/Pre-TOS era ... It can be just as sleek and refined as any other era, with a little imagination; without pissing all over tradition. Sure, Gabe's Enterprise ain't your daddy's Constitution Class ... But it DOES look like a believable 22-23rd century Starship that pays homage to what has come before.

11k??!!! Are you MAD? Most folks gripe at anything over 6k ... But it does sound appealing.
No - I'm TRYING to stay focused here. I really want to build the ships of the Four Years War and the Romulan War ... at least get a good healthy start on it before I move on to other things ...
... but this IS tempting.
Besides, Rod has a GREAT jump on things here. Maybe when I clean my plate up a bit, but until then, I'm just as excited to see these proposed ships as you are.
;D

the borg are coming, the borg are coming
quick we need that ship.
what?, you did not install the hollow deck yet?, who cares, its not the love boat its a war ship, we need weapons not a movie theater. :D
rod, its a dirty looking star ship i thank you that weathering looks fantastic, seriously great job, try to get a bit more near the edges of the hull plates though as it looks a bit more realistic, but seriously this is already shaping up to be your best yet
If you need an SFC3 porter, don't hesitate to ask. I'd love to get my hands on this baby.
Hearty thanks for the positive comments. It's very encouraging.
Is this baby available?

Not to get away form this but has anyone seen this version ?

Isn't the author a BC'er if so where the model ? And more important can we port it ? LOL

Thanks, Pestalence. I hadn't seen this one, before. I did pick up a couple of details from it.
Pest. is more right about it as this is what one of our reader had to post about it over at STG. on.Star Trek XI (http://trekmovie.com/2007/12/04/gabe-kroener-concept-mistaken-for-leaked-enterprise/)
If memory serves, and I may be wrong about this, The Enterprise was built in San Francisco, and assembled in orbit, so what we could be seeing really more bare bones than it first appears.
might i suggest some weathering to the name and registry as they look too clean as to compared to the slightly worn hull. dont have to pay attention to me though.
Can we see a wireframe?
That looks hotter than hot.
Whatever happened to this, did rod ever release this? I was dying for this one. anyone know what happened? thank you

I think Rod never got permission from the author of the original model which inspired his project. I think one of the Bridge Commander guys has the same problem.
At least that's what I heard last concerning this particular ship.
I said it because of those "Protocols" and "Niceties" Every single Connie model, kitbash, redesign, refit is a plagiarism of the original. This Connie Has too many differences from Gabe's original not to be counted as a copy. I mean the similarities between Gabe's and Rod's and even the one Lepton showed us....None of them should be released because they look like Matt Jeffery's original.... Rod built this model using his own imagination which happened to be influenced by Gabe's vision. As long as Gabe's name is given in the credits for inspiration. Wheres the problem?
I mean seriously, and with all respect. When did we all become fluffy bunnies who are so concerned with political correctness that we allow it to stifle and restrain what we have being doing here for years. Because if this what we have boiled down too then what is the point of us ever having to make a model again?
Sorry for the rant, i Don't mean to start anything here as Rod's work on this model and its textures are whats important.
true, which is why i'm suggesting we all sit down in a thread and maybe agree as to where these limits are so events like those are avoided... and no offense but you yourself use connies alot (we all know you get permission) but your changes while subtle are your own. So what if someone were to cause fuss about them or any other design that shares a similarity, before someone could say its all cool people get opinionated and it turns into a flamewar.
thats how it always happens here.
Why not have a thread where the people who do all the work get the foundations laid in for some guidelines or something.
I've heard though that it's already been used commercially on the Ships of the Line calender. Is that true?
It's in the calendar? huh... Anyone know of any other way to get a hold of gabe then? Anything I can do Rod to help bring about the means neccesary for the release. Its just seems a shame, You recreated the model beautifully and I've been dying to get my grubby little hands on it. Modellers like you and Asylum just create some of the most beautiful pieces, the hours I've spent just admiring the detail on the Garigan. I apologize if I'm come off as the begger here, I mean no disrespect to anyone.
Copyright length for art is life+70yrs. I was just stating the law as I understand it, not my intentions.
I am concerned that my releasing my version of his design might devalue it commercially somehow.
Gabe actually was online at scifi-meshes 1hr before I messaged him. Just missed him. ::)
