Vigilant Class - updated pic 13/11/04

Vigilant Class Original Design (Buzz) Reworked by (Az)

Im still at a loss as to what needs to go here ???

The middle one I have worked out... but what would you stick on the left and right sides in here.. shuttle bays? Impulse engines?

Middle aft structure is impulse engines the other two either not sure. Its looks as though the central section needs stretching or rescaling , not by much it just looks a little on the small size compared to the warp nacelles.

But whatever happens it still looks good, a damn mean looking ship.

Strike my last, centre is fuselage outer sections are impulse engines by the looks of Atolm's schematic.

IMHO I believe it should be impulse engines. If you think about the defiant, she had one small shuttle.Being a DD she doesn't really have room for traditional shuttlebays. But that's just my $.02.Great work markyd sir!

Great stuff so far mate!!!
Ok the ship itself is too snub...gotta pull her length out some...the deflectors are good but the aft part of the deflector housing needs to be blended into the rest of the
hull....the foward pod has a deflector assembly aswell.....Inquiry though...what is that spine looking thing on the belly???

Spine because it looked a little bland on the bottom and I thought the spine would tough her up a bit... (easily removed) Could you point out the forward deflector to me? and I will blend in the rear of the deflector pods.. although I thought they looked good that way...  :-[

I'll do the changes now! ;D Thanks AZ

Hey bud ..  again I apologise for the inability get this to you in a timely fashion.  I deeply appreciate your efforts and willingness to review this data.

Azel ..  please review and see if I have missed something  ( I know I'm still a little green )

I hope this helps ..  BTW..  I agree with Azels previous assessments with one word of advice ...  dot stretch too far ..  it might look more like a Romulan design !!   ;D ;D

At any rate ..  hope this helps...

thanks again

And thanks for going to detail here Buzz.... the sensor pod thingies already taper to the back now though az brought that up if you look in the second set of piccies you can see I changed that, photon tubes easily added will do it when I get back from work 2nite and as for the rear... should I just flatten the V out as I have the docking port already in there.. flatten out and stick on the tubes then it should be good to start the textures right

I think perhaps making it a lot "thinner" was  a big pat of it.  If ya choose to install a docking port (assuming that there is adequate space ..  that's ok ...  excellent idea . ) but don't make to the aft section too thick in order to accommodate it ...

Oh ..  and yes there are 4 impulse engine thruster outlets ..2 top ..  2 bottom..

I hope this makes sense !!

again ..  thanks so much for the efforts !

Hmmm  if ya recall RD's version of the Sovy ..  that sort of gray ( less blue tint I guess iw what I'm trying to say )  and yes ..  where ever you think best ..  darker gray textures ..

(some how I don't think I'm doing a good job at explaining what I'm trying to say) ..    I know you will do a good job !!  Heck you've done a superb job with the mesh !

as for colors, can i request a second set of textures that uses dark red in place of the tan?

Refrence the looking a little dull, when the rest of the vigilant is textured it will look correct. The panels I think look right for her, and it will brighten up when you add light maps, keep up the good work.

Nah... on both Buzz and Az's drawings they were grey extruded hull bitty things... I suppose I could make them blue and cage them up or somthing  ???

If I get enough requests and buzz and azz give the thumbs up I have no probs in changing it..  ;D

Actually the "glows" were on the top and bottom of the nacelles ..  Azel came up with the idea of it being on the bottom only and the nacelles swiveling into a protected position during a combat situation .. ( one which I approved ) ..

The extruded area on the outside trailing edge of the nacelles ..  hmmm   let me see if I can explain it ..

ya know the nacelle caps off of the TOS  Enterprise ...  well  that is kinda what those are ...  long and narrow and yes wrapping around the corner the way the are ..  ( I hope you guys don't dissaprove of that too much ....  but that was what I had in mind any ways)

Please note :   .....    bad habit of Ol Buzzard .....  little nostalgia in just about everything I do ....  some where !!  ( sorry ...  old habits die hard !)

What you have done so far is really classy bud ..   this is very nice..

just one change ...  I noticed you called this the USS Buzzard???

OY ..  for such a classic piece of work that you have done such a great job  on ...   rename the ship !!  I'll entertain suggestions ..  but DEFINITELY NOT "Buz" ...  "Buzaard" ..  ( ecch !!)

Please continue with you work !!  Looks great as I've said all along ..  I'm flatter that you considered and have now nearly COMPLETED the job...

thanks

I quite like Buzzard... think its cool..... ???

But I dont mind a name change.... but remember their will be 3 sets of textures each with a different name... the darker set will also replace the cream shade with a dark red... the blue with a dark gray and the overall ship will be a darker shade.. that will be the u.s.s. wulf  ;D

Hmm This is only my opinion and I wont get upset (much, well maybe Ill cry a little bit but I'll get over it eventually) if you dont dig it, but I would find a more noble name than Buzzard, thats a carrion-scavenger bird. This model is more worthy I think.

Why not Falcon, its has'nt been used (much), the model looks much more like a perigrin falcon diving on its prey than some dumd ol buzzard circling around some roadkill lol. Peregrin Falcon is also fastest animal on earth, certianly suitable for this big engined machine.

Good against the Romulans.

Just an opinion from lil ol schtupp

Hey Yeah I'll second that one USS  Falcon or USS Pereguine far better suiting names. IIRC there's a TMP perguine out there, perhaps this could be it's replacement in the TNG era. This ships definately a predator, not a scavanger.

My thoughts exactly ...

Dunno about a bird ....  smacks of Romulan designs too much.  But I defiantly like the idea of a predator derivative, variant or root.

How about the whole name... USS VELOCIRAPTOR...there is a pre-TOS ship, with a cool patch...could be an ancestor?

Yes you might want to try edit mesh>face>divide. where you click on the face will add a vertex.
