You've played too much SFC when...
« on: May 03, 2009, 06:47:30 pm »
1. The 'Z' key, not used much by most people, is almost worn away on your keyboard.

2. You see license plates with stuff like 'CCZ' and think, "cheeze!"

3. You know the firing charts cold, but memorizing simple everyday things is hard.

4. You secretly (or not) feel superior for playing a decade-old game.

While trapped in a grocery store aisle by a few slow moving shoppers, the first thing that comes to mind is how satisfying slapping a tractor and slamming them into a nearby shelf would be.

1. You comment that the steak is tougher than a gorn hull.
2. You start wishing you could drop a T-bomb on the guy tailgating you
3. You try to find magic screws in your local hardware store.

You scream out "Engage ESGs!" before pulling out into heavy traffic.

You wish for just ONE Photon Torpedo when a stupid kid goes barreling down the road and nearly runs you off.

When you hear the word weasel, you think of dropping to speed 4 as instinct rather than think of your brother's pet.

You've plaed too much SFC when...

1.  You start making "Top-Ten Lists" style threads of You've Played SFC Too Much.

2.  People actually respond to your thread with "Top-Ten Lists" style threads of You've Played SFC Too Much of their own.

1. You look for the Follow and Match Speed buttons on your cruise control when driving.
2. SFC sound track is the one CD always in your 5-disk CD changer.
3. You have two CD-ROM drives, one is never opened.
4. You believe large space craft can fly through each other.
5. You ask the enemy to surrender, even though you know they always say "NO!"

When you drop a smelly "nuclear mine" in the middle of a cocktail party and then remember that you are not cloaked.

You try and make squadrons of silly ships out of ideas from other sci fi genres in SFC, like 2 FFs and a large Q ship. Attack ships and tender!

You reinstall a decade old game and search for a community for it even if everyone seemed to have disappeared ages ago.

You find amusing the responses on this thread

When you name one nut Enterprise, and the other Excelsior.
The pen is truly mightier than the sword.  And considerably easier to write with.

1.) When you can fart the theme to all Trek shows.
2.) When you start cataloging your movie and DVD collection by stardate.
3.) When you buy a new car, and have a custom paint job done so it looks like a starship.
4.) When you're with you're woman, and all you can think about is how you could have better handled the battle against those K-D5Ds.

3. You have two CD-ROM drives, one is never opened.

... you find your "lost" CD in said drive after hours of searching.

... you own more than one copy of any SFC because you "lost" the original (3 SFC1s, 2 SFC3s :D).

... you've written a fan-fic in which you though you cat would make a good Kzinti Admiral.

... you write fan-fic, but to "keep it real" you play out the scenarios using SFC ('cause SFB takes too long).

... you've dedicated a partition on your hard drive to games, and one to SFC.

... you not only remember how you beat "dancing with yourself", but you keep a copy of the tactics used because you got tired of typing the same blah blah over and over on the ancient forums.

... War vets have combat flashbacks, while you have General War flashbacks.

... you have a bumber sticker that reads "My Other Car is a K-C7".

... you can edit the ship list in your sleep.

... you can edit the ship list in wordpad, without scrolling up.

... you find no irony in dropping an NSM in front of the Hiroshima.
