1) Welcome aboard Flywh33l! - Yes the shipyard is economy based. There will be new map and reset soon which should fix your endless lyrans issue.

Quote from: FA_Frey_XC
The original concept behind "The Forge" was that each race of the Alpha Quad had found a wormhole that ended....apparently no where - but they decided to send unmanned probes through, and found a location of space never before seen, but extremely rich in colonizable worlds, dilithium, resources, etc.

So, it becomes a race as to what Alpha Quad empire can get set up the quickest, and establish the power base enough to control this "new sector" of space. I'd like the map to represent this, hence the reason for the scattered and many planets, and the very small starting empire regions of influence and home hexes.

2) It is already running on MySQL 5.0.15.  ;D

3) I had suggested a reset on an F&E map but Frey (The Forge's Creative Director) wants to keep the theme described above. I need to redo The Forge map anyway as the current one is using new terrain types that wil only work correctly with TraceyG's new missions. I intend to modify the map by placing the homeworlds closer together and increasing the starting territories a bit so the economies have a bit more to work with in the shipyads. Also I intend to slow the time down buy at least half.

Quote from: Bonk
Definitely we should set the time to run slower on the next run. (Or i could slow it down on the current run, but it is already 2345.16. X-tech too early may have driven off some players in addition to the lack of PvP opportunities.

We can stick with the same map concept, sure, but I think we need to fill out the empires just a bit more so the shipyards have more ships.

The other factor is to provide for PvP opportunities. The current map just does not provide any at all. Perhaps if we place the empires homeworlds near to each other to allow for PvP and more conflict in the territory grab.

I think I can come up with a map that acheives this yet still provides the feel you were after.

I'll also have to go back to the old map definitions as only Tracey's missions work properly with the new terrain definitions. (bugs revealed in SGO5 testing).

4) I'm currently working on the MySQL Debug Beta server, a lot of issues have come up, this is good news - bad news...: good news is that through this process we have found lots of issues that just will not do already, the bad news is it is a bunch of work to fix them. I hope to have a reasonable debug build by next week. Once that is up and running I'll come back and update The Forge.

5) Thank you all very much for your input!

cool cant wait to see the new map. and slowing the time down will be good. I like campaigns that run awhile. not get home from work one day to find hours of investment "reset" good luck hope you geter up and running soon.

I'm going to set it at 5 minute turns, and 1152 turns per year (4 days per year) so it will take 4 months to run from a mid start of 2273 to advanced in 2303. Going to start work on the new map today.

Please note that if you wish to use the webyards then the e-mail address for your gamespy account that you used to login to the dynaverse must match exactly your e-mail address that you use on these forums. (this means you Kurok ;))

This is to enable integration with the SMF forums here and hopefully ultimately display of Dynaverse server stats in your forums profile.

You can use multiple accounts on The Forge, but only the one that exactly matches your forums e-mail can be used on the webyards.

If you wish to use the webyards with multiple accounts then create forums accounts for the corresponding server characters with matching e-mail addresses. If I can figure out a workaround for this in the future I will... but forums integration of the webmap/webyards was the aim and will remain so.

Please do not use the "change the case of one letter of your e-mail" bug.

Thanks.

Redoing the map, I was tempted to change the Gorn hex color to hot pink in the map definitions, to see if Kroma might come back to us for it... but not sure it will work and busy with other stuff, but I like this idea and would lilke to try it sometime.  ;D

One thing I found...
I tried to use the webmap to get a ship with my Rom account, but since I'd already been there as a Klingon, it kept going automaticlly to the Klingon account. I couldn't seem to use my D2 login ID, only my Dnet Forum ID...
Can we change that, sir?

Meant to report this last night but it got late on me and I worked today.  Played Forge and have a few reports about certain missions.

1-Drafted in 3 monster missions, all 3 did not end.  Had a D5L in 2 of the 3 and a FWL in the 3rd.  Tried leaving map(complete with AI once, and just our team once) no end.  ended up alting out all 3.  found out later that if you left map, then hit escape and forfeited, it ended.  just not normal is all.

2- Drafted in a Convoy Raid with my D5L and ended up CTD.

3- Several other missions ended in CTD but all were with a particular wing.  He stated he did not have any blocking programs running, but unfortunate that this did happen when he was in same hex.

4- Had loads of fun.

I'm confused. There is no monster mission on The Forge...  Was it a NW patrol perhaps?

2- Drafted in a Convoy Raid with my D5L and ended up CTD.

Just once? You were drafted? So the drafter had taken a convoy escort mission? There is one TraceyG convoy raid mission and one Karnak convoy escort mission is why I ask, if it reoccurs I'll pull the corresponding mission.

3- Several other missions ended in CTD but all were with a particular wing.  He stated he did not have any blocking programs running, but unfortunate that this did happen when he was in same hex.

Best to report mission issues with someone you know you have no connection issues with.

4- Had loads of fun.

Um...think all this happened the other night during the SQL test.  ;)  I had a non-ending MM also.

Bonk,
Played some missions last night.  Some solo, some with human allies.  I flew a variety of missions in different hexes.  Nothing negative to report.  Just had lots of fun.  Great map, great game concept.  Thanks for all of your hard work and dedication!
